Black Top & Checker Cabs has been family-owned and Vancouver-based since 1945. From a small Powell Street dispatch hut to a 400+ vehicle fleet, we've carried this city through every shift change, snow day, last call, and 3am hospital run.

When rideshare arrived, it brought convenience, and it brought surge pricing. Local taxi fleets were told to either match the model or get out of the way.
We didn't want to match it. We wanted to answer it. RiLo brings the convenience that riders have come to expect, on top of a fare structure that respects them.

Every RiLo ride is a Black Top & Checker cab, driven by a licensed Class 4 taxi operator trained through the Justice Institute of BC. EV SUVs with room for the luggage. Hybrid wagons. Accessible vans. 4x4s for when the weather turns. Every car carries our name, a fleet number, a safety camera and the driver's ID on the dash, and every car is washed and maintained at our own facility.
Taxis can use Vancouver's bus lanes. Rideshare can't. On the road 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
